Background

As I said, I wanted to install Web Matrix in my virtual Machine so that I can install WordPress and MySQL for one of my website.

Download Microsoft Web Platform Installer

When I try that, I got an error as follows.

Alert – Your current settings do not allow this file to be downloaded

Step 1: Go to your Internet Options of your Internet Explorer

Step 2: Go to your Security tab -> Internet -> Custom level

Step 3: Go to Downloads and Enable it

Step 4: Click Yes and OK

Steps to export contacts from outlook

Step 1: Go to outlook and click on file menu

Step 2: Click on the options

Step 3: Go to advanced options

Step 4: Click Export

Step 5: Click Export to a File

Step 6: Select the folder you want to export

Step 7: If you want you can map the fields

Step 8: Name your file or browse

Click_finish

Click finish. That’s all now you can see a file is exported to your documents folder. Open it and see your outlook contacts.

Background

I was using wamp server to work with wordpress. That is fine, but it will make some conflicts between our IIS and Skype in our machines, since both apache server and IIS and Skype uses same port (port 80) for the operations. If you need some solutions for those issues, you can see here:

First thing you need to do is, installing Web Platform Installer. You can download this from Microsoft Web Platform Installer. Once you downloaded it, please go ahead and install.

Open Microsoft Web Platform Installer. And search for WordPress.

Now Select WordPress and click on Add and then click Install. Now you can see MySQL configuration page as follows. Give the password you need to set for root.

Now click on Continue. Now you will be shown the perquisites to be downloaded. Just click I Accept to download MySQL and WordPress.

Now just wait for the process to be completed. This process will install WebMatrix which we are going to use as the platform to work with WordPress, MySQL, WordPress, IIS 8 which is compatible with WebMatrix.

Note: If you have installed IIS 10 in your machine, the WebMatrix won’t work. To make it work, you may need to uninstall IIS 10 and install IIS 8.

Once you have installed everything. Go to your applications and open WebMatrix.

Once you logged in, you can see a home page as follows.

Click new–> App Gallery–> WordPress –> Click next.

Type your site name and click next. Finally click OK. Now you can see your wordpress is installed and it will asked for initial set ups. If you are new to set up wordpress I suggest you to see here: Set up WordPress in Your Local

One you have done the initial set up, you will be able to login to your wordpress site. And you can see your files in your WebMatrix application.

You can run your wordpress site by clicking the button Run.

You can see your database under database section and also you can see the data and edit.

Change Port In WebMatrix

You can change the port to any number you wish in WebMatrix. For that go to Site tab–> Select your site –> Settings. In the localhost textbox you can edit the port.

Background

Most of you might have installed Skype in your machines, isn’t it? That’s cool, but now if you install Wamp server in the same machine, there will be some problems. It is just because both Wamp server (Apache) and Skype uses the same port for the operations. So how we can solve this? Here we will discuss that.

Here we are going to change the port of Skype. To do that Open your Skype application. Go to Tools–> Options. Click on advanced options from the left side and click on connection tab. Now you can find an option which says Use port 80 and 443 as alternative for incoming connections. Please un check that box and click on save.

Now restart your skype to make sure that the changes has been applied. In this way we can resolve the conflicts between apache server and Skype in our windows machine.

Background

I know we all uses Outlook. Am I right? Few of them will be using it for official uses like me. What happens if you create an account in C-Sharp Corner or Code Project with that account? Mails from C-Sharp Corner and Code Project will be coming to your Office mail right? It will be good if you could arrange your mails by giving separate folder for separate kind of mails. Here in this post we will learn how we can do that.

To move mails from Inbox to other folder, you need to follows the below steps.

Step 1

Right click on the mail on which sender you need to create the rule and go to Rules and then Create Rule.

Select the rules (Check Boxes) as shown in the below image.

Now click on the ‘Move the item to folder’ check box. You can see a pop as follows.

Select your mail id and click on new button.

Step 4

Give your folder name and click OK.

Now you can see that the new folder name has been added to the text box near to the check box.

Before clicking OK, click on the ‘Advanced Options’

Now you can see so many rules listed. Be careful when you select those. Now please go to the last page.

Please make sure that ‘Run this rule now on messages already in “Inbox”‘ and ‘Turn on this rule’ is checked so that this rules will be applied for your past mails which satisfied the conditions. This will make sure that the past mails will be moved to your new folder.

Once you are done, please click on the finish button. You can see a pop saying that the rule is running.

Now make sure that the rules are applied and all the mails which is satisfying our conditions given has been moved to our new folder.

Unable to Launch the IIS Express Web Server

Background

In my team we have 5 to 10 members. Since we wanted to do a build for our current application, I used “Get the Latest files from the server”. (We are using TFS.) Then when I run my application I was getting this error.

The cause of this error is, someone has checked in the solution file with his port number (the port number he was using). When I took the latest, it was set in my solution file also. We must take the latest solution file only when it is required. So here I will share the remedy for the preceding issue.

Procedure to solve this issue

Step 1

Right-click on your solution and select Properties as shown in the following figure.

Select “Web” from the left menu.

Step 3

Under “Use local IIS server” change the port number from http://localhost:58030/ to another one.

Here I have changed http://localhost:58030/ to http://localhost:58031/ .

Bingo! We have done it.

Now please run again your application. The issue will be solved.
